A few weeks ahead of his scheduled performance at Laneway Festival in Auckland, an arrest warrant has been issued for rapper Young Thug.

The 'Stoner' hitmaker was arrested in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia last month after failing to appear in court over excessive window tinting.

Young Thug didn't show up for a second court hearing on January 12 (local time), meaning a judge has now issued a warrant for him to be arrested again.

In an Instagram video posted after the news, Young Thug seems unfazed - clearing his throat several times while showing off some impressive jewellery and taunting, "Tint this dick".

Young Thug is set for a big 2017. He recently previewed new music with The Weeknd, and announced he'll be going on tour with Drake.

Given the non-serious nature of the original alleged infringement, it's unlikely Young Thug will be barred from travelling - but just to be safe, the hip-hop star will probably be wanting to clear it all up before he heads Down Under.

"Young Thug's visa has been issued for New Zealand and we're looking forward to seeing him in a couple of weeks," says Laneway spokesperson Josie Campbell.

St Jerome's Laneway Festival takes place at Auckland's Albert Park on January 30.
