Kiwi as, Mr President: Jono and Ben introduce Trump to NZ

  • 10/02/2017

With President Donald Trump's policy of America first, it seems like every other country is scrambling to take second place.

It started in the Netherlands, with satirical news show Zondag met Lubach introducing to the country to Mr Trump in a way he'll understand.

It was a huge success. The best.

So fantastic in fact, that other countries have tried to copy the idea - the latest coming from New Zealand's own Jono and Ben.

Ahead of their return to TV screens, they've created their own video introducing and explaining New Zealand to the 45th President.

"Welcome to this introduction video about New Zealand, it's a tremendous country, you're going to love it.

"Much better than every country in Europe. What have they done? Nothing. Losers."

The video goes on to list some of the amazing things we have in New Zealand including lamingtons and pavlova "which we definitely didn't steal. Don't look it up".

It also plays on the "great deal" of the Treaty of Waitangi and New Zealand not even needing a wall because there's "nobody anywhere near us".

Donald Trump likes big things? New Zealand's got the hugest things - a giant L&P bottle, a huge gumboot, a gigantic carrot, and a big metal shed that looks like a dog.

The video makes a plea for New Zealand to be second, or even third, fourth, fifth or sixth or anywhere, really.

"Just not New Zealand First."

Jono and Ben returns to Three on Thursdays at 7:30pm from February 23.
