Robert Irwin's first appearance on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show has left viewers shocked how much he looks like his dad, Steve Irwin, the 'Crocodile Hunter'.

The 13-year-old regards himself as the "luckiest kid on planet Earth" after being raised in Australia Zoo, and says loving animals is in his blood.

Big and small, Robert brought some friends along to the late-night show - including an African dwarf crocodile named Beetlejuice, and Mickey the screaming armadillo.

It was all fun and games until Mr Irwin brings out a red-tail boa named Lady.

Fallon, with a self-proclaimed animal phobia, clearly was not a fan of the snake and couldn't get it off him fast enough after it started to tighten its grip.

The host was all smiles soon after, snuggling up to a sloth as therapy after his traumatic encounter.

Robert also said he felt privileged to appear on The Tonight Show, following in the footsteps of his dad who went on the show in 2005, when it was hosted by Fallon's predecessor Conan O'Brien.

A year later the Crocodile Hunter was stabbed through the heart by a stingray, and died.
