Watch Angelina Jolie eat a spider in Cambodia

Angelina Jolie enjoys tucking into a freshly cooked tarantula in Cambodia in a new video released online.

The Girl, Interrupted star took part in a BBC World News feature that also included her talking for the first time about her divorce from Brad Pitt, while promoting her new film First they Killed My Father.

In the new video, Jolie fries up a meal of creepy crawlies, explaining she first ate crickets in Cambodia, before "kind of moving up" to tarantulas.

"I think it's always been part of the diet, the bugs, but then I think there is a truth to the survival during the war of course," she says.

"When people were being starved they were able to survive on things like [bugs], and they did."

While Pitt is a vegan, Jolie is a meat eater. In 2012 she claimed, "I was a vegan for a long time, and it nearly killed me. I found I was not getting enough nutrition".

First they Killed My Father, Jolie's latest directorial effort, is a true-life account of the Khmer Rouge genocide through the eyes of a child.
