British songstress Adele took to telling crude jokes to entertain her Adelaide crowd on Monday night after a power cut meant her backing music and lights display weren't working.

The 'Hello' hitmaker also addressed widespread reports she snuck past hordes of fans to a platform under the stage via a large equipment box - confirming that it was indeed the case.

"I've done so many shows in that box, and it has been a nightmare," she told her 70,000-strong crowd.

"This time when I came out, you all knew I was in it. I was scared, I was. I'm not lying, I was frightened. So now, I'll just walk out and ruin the surprise and be like, 'Hello, hello!'"

Soon after that, Adele was left unable to perform for close to four minutes when a power cord became unstuck under her revolving stage. But instead of embracing the awkwardness of simply waiting for everything to be ready again, she decided to tell her smuttiest gag.

"Shall I tell you my filthy joke despite all the children here?" she asked to some cheering and clapping, before asking for more reassurance.

"I need more applause than that because I might offend someone."

After geeing herself up for a few seconds, she worked up sufficient courage to deliver the joke.

"What do you call a blonde standing on her head?" she quizzed her audience, before delivering the filthy punch-line: "A brunette with bad breath."

Adele has captured headlines across Australia and the globe seemingly after every show, with her high-energy persona capturing thousands of hearts across the Tasman - and that's bound to get Kiwi fans excited ahead of her arrival on our shores next week.

She has sold out for all three of her shows at Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium - but now it has been revealed that more tickets are going on sale for her shows on March 23, 25 and 26.

Live Nation has admitted many of the soon-to-be-released tickets won't be good quality, as they are either for production hold or restricted view seats - not that diehard Adele fans will care.
