Russian gunslinger hits the right notes

Monty Python did Strauss with explosions, and now a Russian gunslinger has performed music by the classical legend with pistols.

In a video uploaded by Russian news agency RT, Vitaly Kruchin - the head of the International Practical Shooting Confederation - shows off his marksmanship and musical chops to 'Redetzky March'.

Kruchin, also known as Glockophone for obvious reasons, fires two pistols into metal sheets tuned to the song's melody.

His unusual choice of instrument is oddly appropriate however - 'Redetzky March' was written in 1848 to commemorate the Austrian Empire's victory at the Battle of Custoza.

A brave four-piece string quartet accompanies the sharpshooter, whom in the past has fired up gun fans with performances of Beethoven's 'Ode to Joy' and Christmas classic 'Jingle Bells'.

Now, if you're desperately trying to remember what the classical piece with the cannons is, it's Tchaikovsky's '1812 Overture'.

And of course, no classical music montage with munitions is complete without Monty Python's unique take on the Blue Danube.

According to its website, the International Practical Shooting Confederation's aim is to "cultivate the safe, recreational use of firearms by persons of good character".

Nowhere does it mention laying down killer tunes.
