Rogue One star Donnie Yen is slated to star in a movie adaptation of crime video game Sleeping Dogs.

According to film news site Deadline, it'll be produced by the team behind the Fast and Furious franchise.

Released in 2012, Sleeping Dogs was a critical hit, compared favourably to Grand Theft Auto V.

It follows the story of undercover Hong Kong cop Wai Shen, trying to take down a criminal enterprise from the inside.

Yen is a massive star in his native China, often taking centre stage in promotional material ahead of his Western co-stars, such as Vin Diesel in the xXx series.

Sleeping Dogs sold nearly 2 million copies.
