Australian TV host opens up about vagina-esque dress

An Australian TV host has jokingly apologised for wearing a dress which has been criticised as looking like a "giant vagina".

Sylvia Jeffreys wore the ruffled pink dress, made by Rebecca Vallance, to the Logie Awards on Sunday.

But the frills drew unfortunate comparisons to a part of the female anatomy.

"Sylvia Jeffreys is dressed in a giant vagina costume," Scott Keenan wrote on Twitter.

"Is Sylvia Jeffreys a giant vagina? I do like that she recycled Nanna's pink velveteen bedspread from '86 into her wearable vagina," Joe Zep wrote.

Jeffreys first addressed the criticism on Twitter, before discussing it live on Nine's Today Show on Monday.

"Apparently a few people are in a 'flap' over it this morning," she said on air, sending her co-workers into fits of giggles.

"I wouldn't've thought there was anything controversial about a ruffle, but there you go."

The dress had been made out of leftover material from her bridesmaid dresses after her wedding in March, Jeffreys said.
