Newsreaders release bloopers in solidarity with shamed Australian

Australian newsreaders have united after an ABC News presenter was temporarily taken off air when her blooper went viral.

Natasha Exelby was stood down as anchor by the network after she was caught off guard while on air, jumping and gasping in shock on camera.

While she quickly regained composure, she was dumped from the desk - but ABC's director of news denied she was being punished or fired.

"Live television is a demanding art and slip-ups will happen - our presenters are humans, not robots," Gaven Morris said in a statement.

"We take on-air standards extremely seriously, but we don't expect perfection."

"While she is not currently doing any on-air shifts, this will be subject to normal performance management. I have spoken to Natasha and conveyed our regret that this has attracted such attention."

Other journalists have banded together, releasing their own bloopers in solidarity with the shamed presenter.

The hashtag #PutYourBloopersOut has since exploded online as media colleagues highlighted their own mistakes.

The bloopers ranged from people admitted ruining several takes with constant flubs, to one reporter admitting hitting a toddler in the hit with a flower pot, to another almost falling into the ocean when her live cross was photobombed.

Exelby thanked everyone for their support on Twitter, saying: "Myself and my mesmerising pen honourably salute you!"
