Teen asks Emma Stone to prom with La La Land-themed video

A US teenager from Arizona has recreated the opening scene of 2016's Oscar-winning film La La Land in an effort to get the movie's leading lady Emma Stone to go to prom with him.

Jacob Staudenmeier starred in the parody of La La Land's opening song 'Another Day of Sun'. He called it 'Valley of the Sun', in reference to the Phoenix area's nickname.

The Ryan Gosling lookalike changed the lyrics of the entire song to pertain to his high school's prom, begging Stone "Please, don't let me down" by refusing to attend - especially as "it'd be in [her] home town" of Phoenix.

The parody also references dinner at Olive Garden, a popular restaurant chain in the US - which has now come forward and offered the pair a free dinner and dessert if they end up going to prom together.

Mr Staudenmeier enlisted help from classmates and teachers from Arcadia High School to create the well-produced video.

He reportedly has a back-up date if the actress doesn't see or agree to his prom-posal - but Mr Staudenmeier is holding out hope that she will accompany him.

In the words of La La Land - here's to the ones who dream.
