Bow Wow responds after being caught lying on Instagram

US rapper Shad Moss, formerly known as Bow Wow, has defended himself after being caught lying about flying on a private plane from Georgia to New York.

The 30-year-old hip-hop star was roasted on Twitter on Wednesday (local time), when a photo emerged of him sitting on a commercial plane instead of the private jet he'd appeared to be showing off in his Instagram post.

That post sparked a series of insults directed the way of Bow Wow - with a hashtag being developed that saw Twitter users post photos that made them look as though they were living a life of luxury, followed by the reality.

One Instagram user buried Bow Wow's reputation even further, claiming he has proof that the rapper had also stolen a photo of his that showed off an impressive pile of cash.

However Bow Wow has now responded to the criticism he received in an interview with US hip-hop radio station HOT 97, saying he loves the attention he's received from the phony photo.

"People don't understand the scientific method to my madness," he told the hosts, explaining that the publicity he was receiving was good for his upcoming reality TV show, Grown Up Pimp of Atlanta.

He also addressed the Instagram photo of money he is alleged to have stolen, saying he never claimed it was his own cash in the photo's caption and simply posted it with a quote.

"I never said that was my paper. I took the picture but I put a nice quote underneath it - [but] people run with it and are like, 'he stole that picture' and I'm like, 'I never said that was my bag of money'," he said.

"I'm never gonna say something's mine if it ain't mine, but with this tactic you've got to see the show."

Bow Wow also spoke about the criticism he'd received online, saying "it doesn't affect me - it doesn't affect the women, it doesn't affect the bank, it doesn't affect anything".

He also revealed that he gets far worse insults thrown his way by the likes of fellow hip-hop stars Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa on their group chat.

"When the joke is on me, I don't really care because in our group chat it is relentless. It don't stop. It's all day," he said.

"We give each other the blues, like, all the time… so for me, it don't bother me."
