Drum and bass community mourns death of Marcus Intalex

Legendary Manchester drum and bass producer Marcus Intalex has died.

Details about his death are unknown, although it has been confirmed with a statement on his record label's official Facebook page.

"It's with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce that Marcus passed away this morning. Thanks for the kind words so far and we appreciate the privacy and respect shown for his loved ones and friends at this sad time," reads the Soul:r message.

Intalex, whose real name was Marcus Kaye, had been scheduled to play a gig in London on Sunday night, which was cancelled.

Beginning his career in the house genre before moving to drum and bass, Intalex worked as a DJ and producer from 1991 right up to the time of his death.

Many stars of the drum and bass scene, including Kiwi producer/DJs The Upbeats, have taken to Twitter to pay tribute.
