Ed Sheeran announces NZ concerts

After months of speculation and hinting Ed Sheeran has finally announced he's coming back to New Zealand.

His long-awaited shows will be played in Auckland and Dunedin.

The singer-songwriter is set to visit in March 2018, playing at Auckland's Mt Smart stadium and Dunedin's Forsyth Barr.

Sheeran is touring in support of his latest album, Divide, which was released after a year-long break from the spotlight.

During that time the UK star visited New Zealand, loving it so much he considered becoming a citizen here.

He's hinted he may come back for some time, saying in February he'd return "soon".

Earlier this week he posted a version of his Divide album cover featuring a kiwi and a kangaroo.

It'll be Sheeran's first time performing in Dunedin, and it may be one of the last chances to see the singer in concert, with rumours he may soon quit music for a long time.

The Auckland show is scheduled for Saturday March 24 and the Dunedin show on Thursday March 29.

Tickets go on sale on May 23 on Ticketmaster, at 1pm for Auckland and 2pm for Dunedin.
