One of the original members of the highly rated New Zealand band Mi-Sex has died aged 61.

Guitarist and songwriter Kevin Stanton had returned to Australia from France before his death.

He co-wrote some of the best Mi-Sex music, including 'Computer Games' and 'People'.

He founded the band with Steve Gilpin in 1978, which hit it big in Australia with the album Graffiti Crimes in 1979.

Stanton left the band in the early 1980s, and didn't take part in recent reunion gigs due to ill health. He suffered from cervical spondylosis, which affected his spine and neck.
