All Studio Ghibli films coming to NZ cinemas for Celebrate Studio Ghibli festival

If you live in New Zealand and love Studio Ghibli, rejoice - all 22 films from the Japanese animation studio are coming to the big screen here, along with some extra goodies.

Celebrate Studio Ghibli, presented by Madman Entertainment, will take place in Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Dunedin, Hamilton and Timaru from August 24 to September 20.

All of the films will screen both subtitled and overdubbed sessions, except for Ocean Waves, which has never had an spoken English-language version recorded.

In addition, short films along with documentaries The Kingdom of Dreams And Madness and Isao Takahata and His Tale of the Princess Kaguya will screen as part of Celebrate Studio Ghibli. There will also be a special opening night with treats for the most passionate Ghibli fans.

  • Arrietty (2010)
  • From Up on Poppy Hill (2011)
  • The Wind Rises (2013)
