Actors Grace Park and Daniel Dae Kim have quit Hawaii Five-0, reportedly over their desire for pay equality with other stars not being met.

The pair's characters, Kono Kalakaua and Chin Ho Kelly, won't return for the eighth season and their departure will be referenced in the first episode.

Sources told Variety Park and Kim wanted to be paid the same as their white male counterparts, Alex O'Loughlin and Scott Caan, the industry publication reports.

However, negotiations are said to have collapsed after Hawaii Five-0 network CBS's final offer was still 10 to 15 percent less than O'Loughlin and Caan's.

"Daniel has been an instrumental part of the success of Hawaii Five-0 over the past seven seasons and it has personally been a privilege to know him," said the show's executive producer, Peter Lenkov.

"Grace’s presence gave Hawaii Five-0 a beauty and serenity to each episode. She was the consummate collaborator, helping build her character from day one. They will always be ohana [family] to us, we will miss them and we wish them both all the best."

Hawaii Five-0 is broadcast on Three in New Zealand.
