Bullied 8yo's desperate birthday plea for celebrity attention pays off

The father of an eight-year-old who claims he was "bullied" has had a desperate plea for celebrity sympathy answered by the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ellen DeGeneres and Russell Crowe.

As Ollie's ninth birthday approaches, his father Christopher asked Twitter for "famous/well known" people to share the boy some kind messages.

He alleges another child told his son that he has better things than him and his birthday party won't be as good, which has caused Ollie tremendous distress.

"[Ollie] is excited for his birthday but keeps being told it won't be as good as his own," his father tweeted.

"[Ollie] I admit has his moments, but seeing this other boy get away with this is harrowing."

Ollie's mother claims the bullying left him feeling "worthless" and like he "shouldn't be here", adding that he has been offered counselling.

Other notable messages of support for Ollie have come from the likes of astronaut Tim Peake, comedian Dawn French, musician Stormzy and politician Ed Miliband.

Many non-famous people also took the time to express their support.
