Fifth Harmony throw shade at former bandmate

Fifth Harmony may have signalled their true feelings about a former bandmate with a stunt at the VMAs.

Halfway through the MTV Video Music Awards show on Monday (NZ time), the girl group took the stage to perform their latest single, 'Angel'.

Five figures could be seen in silhouette, before one jumped backwards off the stage as the others began singing.

This has been interpreted as a symbol of Camila Cabello's departure from the group.

Cabello left to pursue a solo career in December 2016, reportedly without the knowledge of the other four band members.

Fifth Harmony were awarded best pop video for their song 'Down', which was also nominated for song of the summer - an award Cabello's song, 'OMG', was also nominated for.

The group released their third, self-titled album on Friday - their first without Cabello.

They will reportedly split after their next album to concentrate on solo careers.
