Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran Stark in Game of Thrones, has lifted the lid on details of a scene deleted from the latest episode.

Spoilers for Game of Thrones S07E07 follow.

The seventh and final episode of season seven, 'The Dragon and the Wolf', featured the execution of Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish by Arya Stark, as ordered by her sister Sansa.

Bran, aka the Three-Eyed Raven, was present at the trial of Littlefinger and had used his superpowers to expose the master schemer's past wrongdoings - but it all came as a surprise to viewers.

"We actually did a scene that clearly got cut, a short scene with Sansa where she knocks on Bran's door and says, 'I need your help', or something along those lines," Wright tells Variety.

"So basically, as far as I know, the story was that it suddenly occurred to Sansa that she had a huge CCTV department at her discretion and it might be a good idea to check with him first before she guts her own sister. So she goes to Bran, and Bran tells her everything she needs to know, and she's like, 'Oh, shit'."

Wright also talked about how fun it was to finally work again with Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, the actors who portray Arya and Sansa, after they had previously only shared one scene together way back in season one.

He also gave a little insight into the eighth and final season and how he thinks the big revelations Jon Snow has coming to him would be better if delivered by Samwell, rather than Bran.

"I think that would be a bit of a disappointing reveal for Bran to go, 'Hi, Jon. You're the heir to the Iron Throne and I'm back in Winterfell and I know everything.' I think it would be a bit better if Sam did it. Bran can do the finding out and Sam can do the talking."

Game of Thrones season eight is not expected to be broadcast until late 2018 at the earliest.
