Kiwi music sensation Lorde has released a stunning video for hit single 'Perfect Places' - and she's promised her eagle-eyed fans there's some hidden meanings to find in it.

The latest video from the Auckland songstress was filmed in Jamaica and features her walking through dense foliage with a machete, frolicking on white sand beaches, shooting a rifle into the sky and bathing beneath waterfalls.

It's directed by Grant Singer, the guy behind Lorde's acclaimed 'Green Light' video, which was released in March.

However, 'Perfect Places' is more than just a pretty-looking music clip - and the 20-year-old has promised her admirers there are a couple of references they may notice if they look hard enough.

"A couple cute Easter eggs in this video - let's see if you spot them," she wrote on Twitter.

So far it seems as though people have just been able to fire far-fetched guesses at what those 'Easter eggs' are - though Lorde has yet to respond to any of them, so it's hard to know if anyone's actually spotted one yet.

Regardless of whether they're right or not - they'll certainly be closer than this chap, who spent the entire four-minute video clip looking for literal Easter eggs.

Lorde performs on Thursday night at Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago (2pm NZ time).
