'No clowns for you' - Stephen King bans Trump from watching It

Horror maestro Stephen King has banned US President Donald Trump from watching the new It movie.

"Donald Trump blocked me on Twitter. I am hereby blocking him from seeing IT or MR. MERCEDES. No clowns for you, Donald. Go float yourself," the legendary author wrote on Twitter.

The latest adaptation of King's epic novel It hits theatres next month, and a television version of his detective thriller Mr Mercedes has just started airing in the US.

It's not clear how King plans to stop Mr Trump from watching either of them - he might be prolific, but he lacks the supernatural powers of his characters John Coffey (The Green Mile) or Walter O'Dim (The Dark Tower).

King's fans were amused.

King has been an outspoken critic of the US President. Mr Trump blocked him in June, after the Carrie author tweeted, "That this guy has his finger on the nuclear trigger is worse than any horror story I ever wrote."
