Veteran actor and presenter Sir Bruce Forsyth has died, aged 89.

The former Generation Game host was reportedly unwell earlier this year, being admitted to hospital after a severe chest infection.

Sir Bruce was well-known as the face of some of Britain's most successful shows, including Strictly Come Dancing and The Price is Right.

Sir Bruce died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his wife Wilnelia and all his children.

Since the news of his death broke, broadcasting stars who worked alongside the beloved host have taken to social media to pay their respects.

Sir Bruce's family thanked all those who sent many cards and letters wishing him well over his long illness, and added there would be no further comment at this time.
