The seventh season of Game of Thrones may have come to an end, but there's still plenty of amazing shows to watch before Christmas.

The Deuce
From the guy who made the greatest TV show of all time, The Wire, and starring James Franco in a story about the seedy underworld of porn in '70s New York. There's no new series more exciting than this.
Broad City
Abbi and Illana return for a fourth season of this consistently hilarious, raunchy and funky take on modern life in New York. Think Girls without the pretentiousness meets Louie with more toilet humour, and you're close.
Black Mirror
New terrifying looks at where technology may be taking us are on the way in the fourth season of Charlie Brooker's sci-fi anthology series. He says to expect new styles and tones in the new episodes.
Vice Principals
The first season of Danny McBride and Jody Hill's follow-up to Eastbound & Down didn't go down well with everyone due to its sheer mean-spiritedness, but I loved it a lot and season two looks darker still. Yay!
Married at First Sight NZ
The unholy coupling of the laconic, 'she'll be right' Kiwi psyche with romance-based reality TV shows can make for deliciously awkward and hilarious viewing. Bring on the "yeah, nah... I do" action.
Stranger Things
The biggest cult debut of 2016 was this endearing '80s throwback sci-fi horror. According to publicity material for the second season, things only get stranger...
Curb Your Enthusiasm
It's been a whopping six years since the brilliant eighth season of Larry David's Seinfeld follow-up aired. Larry will probably be back in LA after his jaunt to Paris, avoiding stop-and-chats and working as a social assassin.
Top of the Lake: China Girl
After special screenings at the 2017 New Zealand International Film Festival, Jane Campion's mystery drama is back on the small screen. This season has the added attraction of Nicole Kidman, who was brilliant in the stunning Big Little Lies earlier this year.
The Defiant Ones
Documentary on the partnership of Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine and the transformative effect they had on contemporary culture. If you like music at all, you owe it to yourself to check this out.
Nathan For You
Back for a fourth season, this painfully hilarious show will again pretend to help out small businesses for our amusement. One special episode is going to catch up with previous seasons' victims beneficiaries and see how they've gotten on since.
Narcos
The series that tells the story of Pablo Escobar is back for a third season, sans Pablo Escobar. Early reviews suggest it still rules, even without the notorious drug lord.
