Matt Damon reveals why Donald Trump appears in so many 90s movies and sitcoms

Matt Damon has revealed the "bullshit" reason President Donald Trump made cameo appearances in multiple '90s movies and sitcoms.

The reality TV star and real estate mogul made fleeting appearances in some of the most popular shows of the time, including Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The Nanny and Sex and the City.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Damon shed some light on Mr Trump's surprisingly lengthy filmography.

"The deal was that if you wanted to shoot in one of [Trump's] buildings, you had to write him in a part," Damon explained.

"Martin Brest had to write something in Scent of a Woman and the whole crew was in on it. You have to waste an hour of your day with a bullshit shot: Donald Trump walks in and Al Pacino's like, 'Hello, Mr Trump!'. You had to call him by name, and then he exits."

Damon also added that often Mr Trump didn't make it to the final cut.

"You waste a little time so that you can get the permit, and then you can cut the scene out. But I guess in Home Alone 2 they left it in," he said.
