If you've been eagerly awaiting the reveal of the newest Powerpuff Girl, the wait is over.

Long-lost sister Bliss was revealed during the debut of the five-part movie event The Powerpuff Girls: Power of Four on Cartoon Network on Monday (local time).

If you're wondering "but how come Bliss hasn't been seen before?", wonder no more. It turns out the newest member of the gang is actually an older sibling, created before Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup were made with sugar, spice and everything nice.

Bliss hasn't been seen for years, following a mysterious disappearance, but now she's returned as a teenager to fight crime in Townsville, reunited with her sisters and long-lost family.

She often has outbursts and can't control her powers, perhaps allowing producers to address the idea of puberty and hormones.

The newest character adds some diversity to the show. Cartoon Network has cast three different women-of-colour to voice Bliss across the North American, African and Australian/New Zealand markets, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The original series ran for six seasons, with the new reprisal airing on Cartoon Network over this month.
