Angelina Jolie hasn't been enjoying single life since her divorce from long-time partner Brad Pitt in September last year, saying there's "nothing nice about it".

The 42-year-old Tomb Raider star hasn't gone public with a new relationship since the high-profile split and is now candidly speaking out.

"It's not something I wanted," Jolie told UK paper the Sunday Telegraph.

"I don't enjoy being single, there's nothing nice about it. It's just hard."

In addition to her divorce, the actress has had several health issues, including a double mastectomy in 2013 and the removal of her ovaries in 2015. She has also recently been diagnosed with Bells-Palsy, a rare neurological disease which can lead to facial drooping or paralysis.

But she's doing her best to remain positive. The Oscar-winner says said she is currently focusing on spending time with her six children: Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 11, and nine-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

"I think now I need to rediscover a little bit of the old me, I think we lose our way a bit," she told the Sunday Telegraph.

"I have had a lot happen in my life, from certain people passing to health issues to raising the children. And it's been a very good time to absorb and develop and grow."

Jolie does not have any acting or directorial projects planned, with her most recent film, First They Killed My Father, set for release on Netflix this month.
