Comedian Kathy Griffin gives her hot take on New Zealand Politics

Although comedian Kathy Griffin has been "blacklisted" in Hollywood for her controversial political actions, she hasn't shied away from giving he take on who's going to take out the New Zealand election.

A familiar face to many who watched American sitcoms in the 1990s, Griffin recently posed with a ketchup-dipped mask which resembled the severed head of Donald Trump.

But she had a (fake) political announcement for Three's The Project this evening.

"I'm here to announce the victory of Jacinda Arden - I actually just talked to her," Griffin said.  "She said 'OK don't tell anybody, but I won'."

"And now I have to call Bill English and let him down easily," the comedian added.

Griffin is launching her 'Laugh Your Head Off' tour in Auckland on Thursday, and says she's starting here because "Auckland can handle me".

"There's nothing New Zealanders can't take," she said.

"Also I'm very proud you guys have legalised gay marriage before your bitter, bitter rival Australia."

Griffin, no stranger to controversy, said her proudest banishment was probably her current one.

"I have been under a two month federal investigation, the first time it's ever happened to a comedian. Hmm, I wonder why it happened a female comedian?

"Maybe because the 'pussy grabber' in chief ordered it."
