The latest episode of Grand Designs NZ chronicled the building of Brendon Poole and Nikki Cliffe's ambitious Ponsonby apartment building.

The couple found they couldn't afford a house - so decided to build a block.
To do so, they had top borrow a fortune and along the way faced delays, budget blow-outs and becoming new parents.
The results, however, look like they make it all worth it.
"Brendon and Nikki's apartment looks sleek, modern and stunning," says Grand Designs NZ host Chris Moller.
"It's very elegant. I love the way the space just opens up - there's a real sense of quite different spaces, yet there's extension right through to the landscape both ways."
Moller was particularly taken with the rooftop area, which he described as "stunning and wonderful".
