Jay-Jay Harvey making return to The Edge after alleged sexual assault

The Edge radio host Jay-Jay Harvey be back on the airwaves on Tuesday - 18 days after she last featured on the station's breakfast show.

The hiatus came after she was allegedly sexually assaulted by an Auckland taxi driver, who she claims requested a "hook-up" in lieu of her $17 taxi fare, before groping her breasts when she refused. He is then alleged to have tried following her into her apartment building.

The October 30 incident prompted a lengthy absence - but Harvey has now broken her social media and on-air silence by posting a photo of herself with the caption: "Guess who's back on air tomorrow?"

Harvey will slot back into the Jay-Jay, Dom & Randell line-up, replacing fellow radio announcer Megan Annear, who has filled in for her the last 11 weekday mornings.

The day after the September 30 assault, Harvey wrote a Facebook post detailing the events of the previous night - describing it as "an uncomfortable experience".

"He kept asking me if he could touch my breasts and kept holding my hand, which I promptly let go of each time. He was asking if I would be his girlfriend and I was feeling uncomfortable and nervous," she recounted.

"I was laughing to make him assume I thought he was joking but he kept grabbing my hand and asking about my breasts. He told me he just wanted to touch them.

"We pulled up outside my apartment block and he told me he would let me off my $17 fare if I would hook up with him and then he reached over and started fondling my boobs!"

In the Facebook post, Harvey then described pushing the taxi driver's hand away, before paying and fleeing to her apartment.

She said she then watched out her window as he stood on the street below, trying to work out which flat she was in.

"What a creep. Did he drive taxis for the purpose of preying on drunk girls?" she asked.

"I was shaking a bit and worried about what could have happened. I was legit shitting myself that he was going to force himself upon me."

The Jay-Jay, Dom & Randell show airs on The Edge weekdays, 6-10am.
