Married At First Sight NZ's Andrew opens up on those hairy moments

Viewers may have been surprised to see a different side to Andrew on the latest episode of Married At First Sight NZ as the normally overly positive husband of Vicky stormed out of a mystery date when he was forced to have a haircut.

Andrew told Newshub today that he feels bad about the blow-up.

"There was a little bit of controversy on that one," he said.

"We were supposed to get our nails 'did' but we ran out of time, and so instead I got a haircut, which was OK - but it just wasn't my style."

The Auckland-based builder angrily walked out of the salon; something he called "a bit regrettable" today.

"You really get some perspective on yourself after all of this," he said.

"Reality TV gives you some real perspective on who you are as a person, and in hindsight I wouldn't do that again."

It was a different Andrew to the the normally positive one we've seen in previous episodes - with Andrew seemingly not even blinking an eye when it was revealed his wife Vicky was messaging one of the other husbands, Haydn, proclaiming they should have been matched.

Some have said Andrew let that go too easily, and he admits it "sucked".

"I was raised to be really forgiving, nice and kind-hearted," he says. "But at the same time... I mean, it sucked, but I just wanted to give it a shot.

"I didn't go into it to quit after five days - marriage ain't like that! It's hard to watch back, but at the same time, you got to take it with a grain of salt."

Married At First Sight NZ airs Sunday and Monday nights on Three.
