Married At First Sight NZ's Luke talks love and breakups over ice-cream

After things with Lacey ended in that pretty brutal counselling session on Monday night's Married At First Sight, Luke sat down to drown his sorrows in a tub of icecream and gave us his side of the story.

Luke and Lacey's marriage ended on the final days of their honeymoon, after Lacey said she was told by a family member that Luke was only on the show to become a famous comedian.

Luke said he originally thought the rumours were a "simple misunderstanding".

"I thought things have been taken out of context... I just wanted to talk to Lacey about that and say 'hey, I don't know what you heard but I just want to set the record straight'," he said through mouthfuls of cookies and cream.

"And then it just got blown out of proportion into something that I couldn't control or communicate about, because it was a one-way street there."

Luke says he would have reconnected if "there was anything to salvage", but after Lacey told him she was moving overseas, he just had to "move on".

As for future love prospects?

"I don't know if I'm going to look for love," he said." I think I'm just gonna wait for it to find me."

"That was me looking for love and putting myself out there…and that failed miserably so I'm probably just going to wait for it to happen."

He did reveal he's had a few women slide into his direct messages on social media, but he's staying cautious.

"The profile pictures are females but it could be just a 60-year-old dude behind the phone…but yeah, there's been a couple."
