Action on 'cassette carpet' ahead of Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards

  • 16/11/2017

International pop icon Lorde could be adding a few 'Tuis' to the Grammys in her trophy cabinet tonight.

She's just one of a the exciting local acts up for a gong at the 2017 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.

Ryan Bridge spoke to some of the attendees arriving at Spark Arena for the awards.

One fan was eagerly awaiting Lorde's arrival to help her write out her tattoo, but unfortunately the singer will arrive late and missed the 'red-carpet' entry.

Instead of a traditional red carpet this years VNZMA's used a cassette patterned carpet to welcome attendees to the event.

But Onehunga group SWIDT was there early - they were happy and proud to be nominated for three awards this evening.

The awards will begin at 8.30pm tonight, screened live on Three, and Newshub will highlight the best performances and major winners as they happen.
