The top 10 toys Kiwi kids want for Christmas

  • 25/11/2017

Trade Me has named its top 10 most sought-after children's toys in the build-up to Christmas - and it seems poopin' pets, slime and "demonic" soft-toys are all the rage this year.

Hatchimals were last year's favourite, becoming so popular that buy-and-sell website saw desperate parents bidding at five times the retail price.

This year, Twin Hatchimals sit at number three on the list.

Feisty Pets are number one. Trade Me spokesperson Millie Silvester says they're "two-faced soft toys turn from darling to demonic with a quick squeeze" which can "frighten the life out of unsuspecting family members".

Slime, which has been on toy shop shelves since the '70s, has emerged as a cult favourite once again, making the list at number six.

FurReal Friends, which made the list last year, have also returned this year - with a 2017 reboot.

"FurReal Friends have brought out a series of poopin' pets," Ms Silvester explains.

"These 'pets' require walking and feeding, plus you need to 'tidy up' after they've digested their dinner."
