Will Smith has joked if his TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was to be rebooted, he'd be playing the part of Uncle Phil.

Smith, 49, portrayed a fictionalised version of himself on the hit TV show, which ran for six years in the 1990s.

Appearing on the latest episode of The Graham Norton Show, Smith was told by the host "everyone wants" the show back on air, to cheers from the studio audience.

"They do! Make it for them," Norton begged the Bad Boys star.

"I'd have to be Uncle Phil in that one," Smith replied. "I'm gonna be 50. 'Come on Aunt Viv, I'm 50 - I can't go out on my own?"

The premise of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was that Smith is sent to live with his Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv in a rich neighbourhood of Los Angeles after getting into a fight back home in Philadelphia. Smith performed the theme song, which infamously outlines the premise, on a previous episode The Graham Norton Show.

Ray Avery, who portrayed Uncle Phil, was 44 when the show first hit screens in 1990. He died in 2013, aged 68.

The latest rumours of a Fresh Prince reunion were sparked by a photo Smith posted on Facebook featuring other cast members, such as Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton Banks.

He said that was taken at a charity lunch for Fresh Prince fans who donated to charity.

"We do that every year, and it'll be 10 or 12 people from around the world who have won this lunch."
