Two Hollywood actresses have thanked Sir Peter Jackson for his honesty about his experience working with Harvey Weinstein.

In an interview with Stuff Sir Peter said Weinstein and his brother Bob Weinstein were difficult to work with, behaving like a "second-rate Mafia bully".

Sir Peter told Stuff he removed Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino from the casting list for Lord of the Rings based on Weinstein's advice.

Both actresses have accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment along with dozens of other women.

Judd and Sorvino have now responded to Sir Peter's claims, Judd simply said she remembered the incident but Sorvino went into detail about how the incident affecter her.

"Just seeing this after I awoke, I burst out crying," she wrote.

"There it is, confirmation that Harvey Weinstein derailed my career, something I suspected but was unsure.

"Thank you Peter Jackson for being honest."

Harvey Weinstein denied the allegations, saying he respects Sir Peter Jackson, but he was wrong.

A spokesperson for Weinstein said in a statement: "While Bob and Harvey Weinstein were executive producers of the film, they had no input into the casting whatsoever."
