While most Hollywood A-listers have private drivers and wouldn't be up for a chat, it seems actress Margot Robbie is not that kind of a girl.

An Australian Uber driver has been left "kicking himself" after he turned down an invitation to a house party with the Wolf of Wall Street star and her British husband, Tom Ackerley.

Robert Bregnsdal posted on Facebook this week that he had just driven the 27-year-old actress; "either that or she has a twin".

After some investigation from friends, he updated the post, writing "Update: can confirm it was her! And her bf/husband... probs one of the nicest I've met and very down to earth.

"We also talked about the word c**t .. and she loves smirnoff double blacks haha".

Mr Bregnsdal told the Gold Coast Bulletin the couple were chatty and engaging on the drive from Carrara to Mermaid Beach. They were so nice, he assumed he had made a mistake and she wasn't famous at all.

"She was so down to earth, normal, chatty and friendly," he told the paper.

"We were talking about a Chinese restaurant she used to go to in Mermaid that closed because they were serving ibis meat and she said 'Sooo I pretty much have a stomach of steel now'.

"After [the drive] she invited me to come to the house party I said no 'cause I was going to see Star Wars with the boys."

He then added: "Her husband kind of chuckled like 'Ha ha, you don't realise who we are'."

"Afterwards I was like FML."

The actress celebrated her first wedding anniversary in December, having married the British film director in 2016.
