Stars celebrate decade of Marvel with epic yearbook photo

Some of the biggest movie stars in the world have united for a class photo marking 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Variety reports that back in October the group gathered in secret on the Atlanta set of Avengers: Infinity War for the photo. Marvel posted a video of the gathering on its YouTube page on Friday (local time).

Robert Downey Jr fronted the photo of 80 Marvel actors and filmmakers, paying homage to the first MCU film in 2008: Iron Man. A decade later, there have been 17 films set in the Marvel universe.

"I literally am in dead centre in the front row," Robert Downey Jr says in the clip.

"I'm looking around going, 'Any one of these people could be dead centre.'"

Our own Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi features in the photo, alongside friend and co-star Jeff Goldblum.

Fellow Thor actor Chris Hemsworth, who plays the titular character, says even the biggest stars got a buzz out of being in the room.

"It felt like being at the Academy Awards or something. Every person had been in one or all of my favourite films," he explains.

"I think everyone was aware this was coming to a close. We'd all been on this remarkable journey together. There was a huge excitement and buzz to that day."

Even Don Cheadle, who's been playing War Machine for eight years, admitted: "There's a ton of fanboy-ing and fangirl-ing going on in that room with each other."
