Flight of the Conchords have cancelled the remainder of their UK tour after Bret McKenzie broke his hand falling down a set of stairs.

"I've broken two bones in my hand today in a very rock 'n' roll injury - falling down some stairs," McKenzie said on Facebook on Friday.

The stars have already performed a number of shows during the UK Flight of the Conchords Sing Flight of the Conchords tour, but the injuries mean McKenzie is unable to perform for several weeks.

"I'm sorry not to be able to do these upcoming shows but I'm looking forward to coming back and finishing the tour when I have two fully functioning hands," Mr McKenzie said.

Jemaine Clement, the other half of Flight of the Conchords, said he is "wishing Bret the best and hope he gets bretter soon".

Ticket holders will be contacted about the rescheduling of dates.
