Jimmy Kimmel doubles down on ridicule of Donald Trump after Oscars ratings slur

Jimmy Kimmel attacked Donald Trump on his TV show in a second response to the US President mocking the low ratings of this year's Oscars ceremony.

The comedian, who already responded on Twitter by saying Trump was the lowest rated president of all time, won huge laughs from his audience while mocking the former Celebrity Apprentice host.

"Trump always has a problem with the Academy Awards," Oscars host Kimmel said.

"I really think he would love the best-picture winner, The Shape of Water. If you haven't seen it, it's about a monster that has sex with a woman who can't talk about it. Basically it's like his life story."

Kimmel asserted he would get under Trump's "orange skin" by pointing out he got twice as many likes on his tweet than Trump got on his.

He also addressed the way right-wing media in the US celebrates low Oscars ratings as a rejection by the working class or "forgotten Americans" of Hollywood and the "liberal elite"; while also celebrating tax cuts for the rich by their billionaire president.

"Trump loves saying the ratings are down to insinuate that is a show of some kind of support for him, but the truth is every year since Netflix happened, ratings are down for every big TV show. Super Bowl, Grammys, Emmys, Golden Globes. But Trump thinks he caused the ratings to go down."

Kimmel also mocked Trump for having "small hands".

Since his first slur about the Oscars ratings, Trump hasn't responded to Kimmel on Twitter.
