Ticket scalping's not going away - so what can you do to beat it?

A oldie and far from a goodie, Bruno Mars fans are the latest to be scammed paying through the roof for fake concert tickets.

Viagogo, a legitimate ticket reselling site, is also a favourite for scammers to sell fake concert tickets - with a number of people having fallen victim to the scammers over the years.

Tauranga father Tommy Wilson was turned away from the Bruno Mars concert after he discovered his tickets were fake.

He says it was "heartbreaking" having to deliver the news for his daughter.

Mr Wilson recommended that nobody bought tickets of reselling sights to stay safe and instead splash out on the tickets on other ticketing websites such as Ticketek or Ticketmaster.

Thankfully, there was a silver lining - and a man whose daughter couldn't go to the concert anymore because of netball commitments gave Mr Wilson a ticket for his daughter.

Viagogo was reached for comment, and the Commerce Commision was unable to comment as the are currently investigating the site.

The family who gave Mr Wilson's daughter a ticket have been urged to contact him, so he can thank them properly for their kindness.
