Video has emerged capturing the Netherlands' tallest church tower paying tribute to Avicii, the DJ who recently died aged 28.

The Swedish EDM superstar, whose real name was Tim Bergling, was found dead in Oman on April 20 (local time) after battling health problems for years.

Avicii was honoured at the Dom Tower in Utrecht, which played his hits 'Wake Me Up', 'Without You' and 'Hey Brother' with its 13 bells.

Hundreds gathered for the 11am Sunday (local time) tribute after it was announced on Twitter by Malgosia Fiebig, the city's carillonneur (chief bellringer). Many posted videos of the event on social media.

Meanwhile, Avicii's parents, brother and two sisters have arrived in Oman to collect his body.

The cause of death is still unclear, but police have ruled out criminal suspicion.
