Music legend Bob Dylan has announced he's returning to New Zealand to play two arena shows in Auckland and Christchurch in August.

The 'Like A Rolling Stone' singer will be bringing his five-piece band to our shores and playing from a songbook that pulls from across his six-decade long career.

Dylan's repertoire includes beloved classic hits including 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door', 'A Hard Rains a Gonna Fall', 'Forever Young' and 'Blowin' In The Wind'.

He's released over 50 albums, selling more than 100 million records worldwide.

Dylan's awards collection includes 11 Grammys and the Nobel Prize in Literature, which he won in 2016.

The pop culture icon last visited New Zealand in 2014, performing in Hamilton and Christchurch, but skipping Auckland.

Fans in the City of Sails will be pleased to hear he will be playing at Spark Arena this year on August 26, before heading to Christchurch on August 28.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 23.
