Kiwi stage-show lovers get ready for a whole new world - Broadway musical Aladdin is coming to New Zealand in 2019.

The show opened on Broadway in 2014, and since then has broken records and been seen by more than 6 million people worldwide.

The Australian version of the show, coming to New Zealand shores, boasts a cast of 34 and a staggering 337 glittering costumes, which feature 1,225 different fabrics, 712 different styles of beads and almost 500,000 Swarovski crystals.

The show uses 40,000kg of scenery and 60,000kg of staging to create the fantasy city of Agrabah including the colourful marketplace, the lush palace of the Sultan and his princess daughter Jasmine and the legendary Cave of Wonder.

The show is based on the Disney movie of the same name, released in 1992 and grossed over $500 million worldwide.

New York Times called the Broadway show "fabulous and extravagant with relentless razzle dazzle" while Associated Press said "Disney hits magic again".

The show won't arrive in Aotearoa until next year, with pre-sale tickets released in August 2018.
