Kanye West calls slavery a 'choice' in bizarre TMZ newsroom meltdown, gets owned by African-American reporter

Oh Kanye you've done it again.

The rapper took his bizarre thoughts from Twitter to the TMZ newsroom on Tuesday, taking over a live interview in which he made offhand comments about the history of American slavery.

"Like, you was there for 400 years and it's all of y'all? It's like we're mentally in prison."

West was also asked about some of the controversial statements he's made online over the past week, including calling US president Donald Trump his "brother". The Life of Pablo artist reaffirmed his support for the US President, telling the hosts "I just love Trump!"

"That's my boy. You know, so many rappers you look at a video of Snoop Dogg lovin' Trump, but then he get in the office and now they don't love him. Trump is one of rap's favorite people."

The video also included footage of West addressing the entire TMZ newsroom after the interview, asking "Do you feel like I'm thinking free and feeling free?"

TMZ reporter Van Lathan stood up to angrily addresses the rapper, telling him "I actually don't think you're thinking anything."

"While you are making music and being an artist and living a life that you've earned by being a genius, the rest of in society have to deal with these threats in our lives.

"We have to deal with the marginalisation that has come from the 400 years of slavery that you said for our people was our choice."

"Frankly, I'm disappointed, I'm appalled and, brother, I am unbelievably hurt by the fact that you have morphed into something, to me, that's not real."

The video cuts as West approaches the reporter, apologising for hurting him.

It's not the only bizarre revelation that emerged during the live interview, with the rapper also revealing he was addicted to opioids after having liposuction in 2016.

"Two days before I was in the hospital, I was on opioids. I was addicted to opioids," West confessed, again addressing the whole newsroom. "I had plastic surgery because I was trying to look good for y'all."

"I got liposuction because I didn't want y'all to call me fat, like y'all called Rob [Kardashian] at the wedding, and made him fly home before me and Kim [Kardashian] got married. I didn't want y'all to call me fat, so I got liposuction, and they gave me opioids," he continued. "And I started taking two of them and driving to work on the opioids."

Hordes of West's celebrity peers have unfollowed and spoken out against the rapper as he continues a downward spiral, including John legend and Snoop Dogg.
