Excitement may be building for the royal wedding but someone a little "closer" to Meghan Markle is clearly unimpressed.

Ms Markle's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, has written an open letter to Prince Harry telling him it's not too late to ditch his bride to be, The Daily Mail reported.

In a letter originally shared with In Touch magazine, Mr Markle lambasts the American television star by telling Harry that she is a "jaded, shallow, conceited woman that will make a joke of you and the royal family heritage."

"I'm confused why you don't see the real Meghan that the whole world now sees," he writes.

"Meghan's attempt to act the part of a princess like a below C average Hollywood actress is getting old."

51-year-old Mr Markle is from Oregon and says he hasn't seen his half-sister since 2011 when the two were at their grandmother's funeral.

He claims Ms Markle threw their father into debt when he helped launch her acting career.

"What kind of person starts out by using her own father until he's bankrupt, then forgets about him in Mexico leaving him broke, over mostly all her debts,' the letter continued.

'And when it's time to pay him back she forgets her own father like she never knew him."

'It's very apparent that her tiny bit of Hollywood fame has gone to her head."

Mr Markle recently told the Mirror that the royal bride to be is falsely trying to portray herself as the new Princess Diana.

Prince Harry will marry Meghan Markle on May 19 at the historic Windsor Castle.
