Supercar on a track in Cromwell

An Aston Martin Vulcan costing $4.2 million has been put through its paces at Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell.

The luxury track-only vehicle is owned by businessman Tony Quinn, who also owns the motorsport park.

He opened the park to the public today to watch the car in action.

Only 24 of the supercars were ever made and this is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere, he says.

"I have an immense amount of respect for the heritage of motorsport in New Zealand and the legacy it has around the world, and I think that it is a fitting tribute that New Zealand will be home to an Aston Martin Vulcan," Mr Quinn says.

Mr Quinn was born in Scotland and made a fortune in New Zealand and Australia in pet food. He is an avid motorsport enthusiast.
