Prada shoes, a facelift, bagpipes and buffalo hunting in Australia.

These are just some of the things Lotto winners have splurged on when they won the jackpot.

The odds of winning tonight's $20 million Lotto Powerball jackpot are one in 38,383,000.

It's only then you are presented with the winner's handbook, which is titled Wahoo.

Newshub has a copy and a quick flick through reveals the regular tips about not going crazy straight away, being careful who you tell and getting proper financial advice.

It also shows how Lotto winners discovered they had won -- 32 percent were in a Lotto store, 27 percent checked online, and 26 percent found out by watching the live Lotto draw.

When winners had found out, where did they keep their ticket?  Twenty-three percent in a purse or wallet, 11 percent in a draw, and 5 percent under their pillow.

There were also some more unusual places including inside a bible, in a travel pouch around their neck and someone who held onto the ticket all night.

As to who you would tell, 31 percent told their immediate family straight away, 8 percent told everybody, and 5 percent told nobody.

Surprisingly, the handbook reveals 85 percent of Lotto's big winners kept working and remained in the same job as before their win.
