Hong Kong Airlines has announced it will launch daily flights between Hong Kong and Auckland from November.

The airline says it is building on the success of its service to Australia launched earlier this year, and believes the "steady increase" in visitors to New Zealand from Hong Kong and China will make the route a success.

For the year ended March 2016, visitor numbers from China increased 27.8 percent from the previous year and visitors from Hong Kong were up 19.1 percent.

Hong Kong Airlines will fly an Airbus A332 on the Auckland route.

"Leveraging on our connectivity in Asia via the international hub Hong Kong, we believe this Hong Kong Airlines new service to Auckland will be welcomed by passengers," says Hong Kong Airlines chief commercial officer Li Dianchun.

Air New Zealand and Cathay Pacific both already offer a daily direct service between Hong Kong and Auckland.
