Hackers target Hunting & Fishing NZ

The Hunting & Fishing New Zealand website has been hacked, with the company urging recent customers to check their bank transactions for suspicious activity.

Visitors to the site now see a statement from the outdoor recreation company, saying it's taken down its website "until further notice".

"We are very sorry about any inconvenience but we want to do everything we can to protect Hunting & Fishing customers."

It's asked customers to visit their brick and mortar stores if they want to buy anything "until we are satisfied that our site can trade with the best possible security in place".

The company says their site was "created and operated by renowned and certified service providers".

"So naturally we are alarmed, as you will be too, over what has happened."

It's advising customers who used the website recently to check their transaction history "at the earliest opportunity".

The company says it's doing "all we can" to protect customers from financial risk and is working with "authorities", banks and technical experts to fix the problem.
