According to a new British study, best friends come at quite a price.
Over an average friendship lifetime, your BFF costs you around NZ$45,000, it says.
The study was done by the TopCashback website, and was based on a friendship lasting 40 years.
It found more than 80 percent of adults with a long-time best friend felt their friendships were worth the cost.
If you have a bachelor or bachelorette party, you can expect about $807 to be spent on you, and when you have kids, about $530, though it is unclear if this would be from one best friend.
Considering these numbers, an important question is: are lonely people richer?
